ROMAN MEAL “AMERICAN ORIGINAL BREAD” IS NOW EVEN BETTER
-- No High Fructose Corn Syrup and More Healthful Ingredients --
TACOMA, Wash. (Dec 7, 2010) — Bread lovers rejoice! An American favorite since 1912 just got better. Roman Meal reformulated its “American Original” bread with more of what consumers want: vitamin D and fiber; none of what they don’t: high fructose corn syrup; while keeping the much-loved sweet and nutty flavor. Two bread varieties carry the American Heart Association heart-check mark.
“We listened to our customer requests and reformulated Roman Meal Original to meet demand,” said Gary Jensen, President, Roman Meal Company. “Consumers will not only appreciate the new nutritionals, but will enjoy the same great taste they grew up with.”
Roman Meal Original Product Highlights:
  • No High Fructose Corn Syrup: In response to consumer preference
  • American Heart Association’s Heart-Check Mark: The mark on three Roman Meal varieties certifies that these are low in saturated fat and cholesterol (as is almost all bread)
  • Good Source of Vitamin D: Each serving contains 10 percent of the recommended daily value of this “sunshine vitamin,” essential for good physical and mental health
  • Excellent Source of Calcium: 20 percent of the recommended daily value per serving
  • Good Source of Fiber: 2.5 grams per serving, 10 percent of the recommended daily value
  • Whole Grains: Most varieties have at least 24 grams per serving, which is half of the recommended daily value
  • New Package Design: Showcases the nutritional highlights
  • Delicious Flavor: Same sweet and nutty flavor that has been a favorite for generations
Roman Meal reformulated bread rolls-out now and continues into early 2011. The average retail price is $2.56.
